What is Bazi (八字)?
Bazi (八字), also known as the “Eight Characters,” is a cornerstone of Chinese traditional metaphysics, widely used to understand one’s destiny, personal traits, and compatibility with others. Rooted in ancient Daoist cosmology and the foundational principles of Yin-Yang and the Five Elements (五行), Bazi has remained a respected method for over a millennium, guiding individuals through life’s many crossroads with clarity and insight.
At its essence, Bazi is a system of fortune analysis based on one’s birth date and time. It constructs a unique chart using four pillars – year, month, day, and hour of birth.
